Uh... it's the guy you control
I know the game's name is Onmyoji, but it's not that.
What's an Onmyoji?
Onmyoji are people who practices Onmyodo, which is like ancient Japanese mystic arts. They became rather popular during the Heian period because of Abe-no-Seimei, who is one of the most popular practitioners...
...huh? That's not what you're asking about?

Oh, you mean this onmyoji.
They are the main characters of the game and can't be removed from teams (exception being Draft Duels, Heian Tales, and some Heian Stories, I think). Because they are a part of the team most of the time, you can set their skills to the ones you find useful in those situations. Like other shikis, they can only have 3 skills at one time (technically it's normal attack + 2 skills, their passive is applied automatically).
In this screen, you can change the main onmyoji you control, their skills, and totem skins. If you want to change your onmyoji's skin, you must do it in the courtyard.
You should also level up your Totem so you get to level up their skills. The recommended onmyoji to max out at the start is Seimei.
